Athleisure Style

The sporty, athleticwear style for everydaywear isn't just for the tomboys anymore. (And everyone woman everywhere just cheered.) Everyone is getting on board with this ultra casual and comfy look.  Here are a few tips for rocking this look yourself:

LACE 'EM UP

It's ok--you really can give those four inch stilletos a break.  Stylish sneakers are the best way to bring together this look for yourself AND care for your feet.  Wearing your old trainers will look like you threw on your lawn mowing shoes because they were the closest thing to the door, so instead invest in one great pair.  Go for a classic style in bright tones or stay the tried and true route with a neutral.  Definitely find a pair that is comfortable because with this look comfort is just as important as style.

SHOW YOUR ANKLES

Showing your delicate ankles takes the look away from frumpy and heads it in the direction of chic.  When choosing bottoms go for a knee length dress, ankle skinny jeans, leggings, or rolled boyfriend jeans.  Wear low socks so that nothing compete between your great ankles and your sweet trainers.

MIX AND MATCH ACCESSORIES

To take your look from the studio to the street, it's important to keep your pairings casual but still in the same realm.  Dress appropriately for the situation. You don't have to dress head to toe in the athleisure wear trend, but save your strappy sandals for another look. Other options include adding on patterned scarves, leather jackets, denim shirts, chunky sweaters, open cardigans, and fancy bags.

GO FOR COMFORT

This whole look revolves around feeling comfortable and looking effortlessly chic.  Make sure fabrics are soft, stretchy, and something you would love to live in.  You don't want to look too fussy or like you tried too hard.  Sweatshirts are a great layering piece that keeps the look fun and comfortable no matter what is layered on top.
