Light Layering for Spring

Warmer weather is finally here, but that doesn't mean you have to shelf layering pieces for the next several months. Yep, you really can create cute layered spring outfits without resulting in a sweaty mess by the end of the day! Focusing on lightweight fabrics, bright colors and patterns, and breezy shapes will make layering a dream to wear this spring and summer. Here are some of our favorite items and tips for layering during the upcoming months.

to the beach or pool

Kimonos and ponchos make the best cover ups for the beach or pool. They don't absorb a lot of water so they dry off fast and they never look soaking wet even when your swimsuit is! They also give enough coverage so you can still feel comfortable hitting up your favorite taco stand after the beach.

shorts and a tank

Are you a shorts and tank kind of girl come mid-June and July? Kimonos layer beautifully over simple tanks and provide just the right amount of coverage to shoulders and arms.  Adding some color to a simple white tee or tank will instantly bring your look to life.  Don't be afraid to layer shorts or a skirt that is shorter than the kimono length.  Layer on summer hats, long layered jewelry and gladiator sandals for a boho chic look.

When it's 100 degrees with 90% humidity THE LAST thing I want to put on is a pair of hot denim.  Even my go-to favorite pair of jeans get the side eye.  Thank you sundresses! Throw on a lightweight kimono for a sweet layered touch.  Layer over solid colored dresses in similar flowy fabrics for an easy breezy look.

A Long Vest

We've seen the return of the duster cardigan in all its glory the past few seasons and with it, its sister, the duster vest. Just as easy to wear, just as versatile, just as chic. For spring and summer, again, choose a lightweight, sheer fabric that you can throw on over a dress, a tunic with jeans, or just your basic graphic t-shirt.

running errands

The easiest look to pull off with a kimono is to simply add it over your go to skinny jeans and t-shirt look.  Just because you're out running errands doesn't mean you can't look (and feel) like a total babe.  Layer with fun jewelry, summery sandals, and your favorite summer updo and you are good to go!
