How to Wear Oversized Sweaters

Oversized sweaters have quickly become over of the hottest cold-weather trends in recent years and personally, I can't get enough of it. Comfy and cozy, with an effortless cool-girl vibe, what's not to love? But how do you pull it off so you don't look sloppy? The countless ways to wear relaxed, long sweaters are just another reason to try the trend -- or in this case, several!.

Here are seven tips for wearing and styling long, oversized sweaters this season.

1. Chunky + cable knit + sweater all seem to go hand-in-hand. However, if you're worried about all that excess fabric making you look bulky, look for a sweater in a lighter weight fabric with a flattering neckline. That alone can make a huge difference and give you the option to layer!

2. A versatile piece that works well for date night, this piece can easily be dressed up with a stacked heel bootie and black denim for a night out.

3. The oversized sweater is such an a great staple that you don't have to do a lot with to look great. (Something you can throw on without much thought and still look great? I will always consider that a win.) Pair it with your favorite skinny jeans, add a simple pendant necklace, and you're ready to walk out the door for parent-teacher conferences.

4. Even just switching up your necklace and other accessories can change your look just enough. Try swapping out your long pendant necklace for a simple choker or a delicate stone pendant.

5. Necklaces are great, but a hat or patterned scarf are additional great ways to personalize your look while also adding extra warmth (yes, please!). With all the different ways to wear a blanket scarf, that alone could be what you need to take you from running errands to your Netflix marathon to date night.

6. Speaking of Netflix, this sweater also looks great with your favorite fleece leggings. Give that raggedy old sweatshirt from college a rest and throw on an oversized knit sweater instead. You won't sacrifice comfort, but you'll gain major style points. And swap out your slippers for some knee-high boots for an instant ready-to-go look.

7. Don't shy away from color. If you're like me, nine times out of ten, you reach for the neutrals. (Absolutely no shame in that.) But maybe it's time to switch it up a little bit. And to help take your sweater into spring, a brighter color can be a fun alternative or try pairing it with white denim instead.
