8 Ways to Wear Oversized Sweaters

Oversized sweaters have quickly become over of the hottest cold-weather trends in recent years and personally, I can't get enough of them. Comfy and cozy, with an effortless cool-girl vibe, what's not to love? But how do you pull it off so you don't look sloppy? Here are 8 tips for wearing and styling oversized sweaters this season.

1. Chunky + cable knit + sweater all seem to go hand-in-hand. However, if you're worried about all that excess fabric making you look bulky, look for a sweater in a lighter weight fabric with a flattering neckline. That alone can make a huge difference and give you the option to layer!

2. The oversized sweater is a staple that doesn't require much to look great. (Something you can throw on without much thought and still look great? I will always consider that a win. Especially during such a busy time of year. ) Pair it with your favorite skinny jeans to balance out the volume on top and a pair of boots. (I'm loving the over-the-knee boot trend this year!) You'll feel great and have the confidence to go fight those holiday shopping crowds.

3. It's easy to think sweaters are only for the day or cozy nights spent at home. However, a lightweight sweater is extremely versatile and can just as easily be dressed up for a night out. To balance the sweater's volume on top, pair with a pencil skirt and a stacked heel bootie

4. Even just switching up your necklace and other accessories can change your look just enough. Try swapping out your long pendant necklace for a simple choker or a delicate stone pendant.

5. Necklaces are great, but a hat or patterned scarf are additional ways to personalize your look while also adding extra warmth. (yes, please!) With all the different ways to wear a blanket scarf, that alone could be what you need to switch up your look enough from day to day.

6. A simple oversized sweater is essentially a blank canvas. That means it can take you from occasion to occasion just by switching up your accessories. In a race against the clock to go from day to night? Lose your oversized Mom bag for the night in exchange for a fun clutch and some bold earrings

7. Speaking of Netflix, this sweater also looks great with your favorite fleece leggings. Give that raggedy old sweatshirt from college a rest and throw on an oversized knit sweater instead. You won't sacrifice comfort, but you'll gain major style points. And swap out your slippers for some knee-high boots for an instant ready-to-go look.

8. No ugly sweater parties here! If you're like me, nine times out of ten, you reach for the neutrals. (Absolutely no shame in that.) But you can still feel festive this holiday season by just reaching for a little color.

Casual enough you can wear it lounging around the house or while holiday shopping, yet easily dressed up to take you from holiday party to holiday party, an oversized sweater is easily a closet staple you'll reach for time after time well after the holidays are over.
